Performed by Orchestra Of Our Time, Joel Thome conducting.  “Fire Fragile Flight” was nominated for the Pulitzer.  This chamber orchestra has an unusual percussion section (4 players on slide whistles, hanging bells, playing inside the piano, etc.).  The music tries to re-create the physical phenomena of falling leaves in early March in the Great Lakes country …the music has “leap-points” which trigger whirling “startle-juxtapositions” of varying speed, like the reflected light on turning and falling leaves will sometimes appear to set them on fire.
